Acupuncture & Reproductive System
Acupuncture is based on the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with emphasis on the importance of balance in body & mind.
Chinese Medicine views the physiology and pathology of the four phases of the menstrual cycle, including ovulation, as the ebb and flow of Yin and Yang . In terms of organs, the Uterus, the Heart and the Kidney form the core of reproductive activity:
"During the first half of the cycle, Yin increases and while in the second half of the cycle, Yang increases. Ovulation marks a rapid change from Yin to Yang, while menstruation marks a rapid change from Yang to Yin. "
In the interaction of Western Medicine and TCM, the Heart encompasses the mind and the activity of the hypothalamus and pituitary. The balance of Kidney Yin and Kidney Yang influences the secretion of appropriate hormones at appropriate phases, which is an essential factor in successful conception.
On the first consultation, I will ask a number of questions to establish the condition of your body. It is helpful if you can bring in your BBT chart as it provides useful information and can help in constructing a treatment plan.
